Victorian Flat, Brockley

The driving force behind the refurbishment of this one bedroom ground floor flat located in Brockley’s conservation area was to make the space work much harder.  A damp, window-less bathroom and cramped kitchen were reconfigured to create a flat with two double bedrooms, a contemporary bathroom and light and airy open plan kitchen living space. With extensive travels around Australia, the client’s brief was to bring the outside in.  This was achieved by increasing the size of the patio doors to bring in more light and create a stronger connection with the garden and by using tactile materials with a strong outdoor association, such as a concrete, bamboo and wood.
